Few things are as amusing as seeing brand names, logos and all the associations that come with them lifted wholesale, removed of most of their original context and crudely reproduced. Unless you are an IP lawyer or Kate Spade it’s hard not to look at these appropriations as a wonderful kind of folk art. I only wish there were more of these.

“Fake brands” have been making their way around the web for awhile now (“fake chinese brands“, more fake chinese brands, more examples and yet more)… Someone should really compile a proper book of these.

Many of these appropriations are bizarre and amusing, like the notion of a “shanel battery” below… but what could ever compete with the IBM church above? One can’t help but wonder “what idea was the person creating it trying to convey?”*

* and if IBM actually stands for something practical like Iglesia Bolivar Martinez or whatever I don’t wanna hear about it.
