Among the Sierras with Woodpecker

Destruction in the gallery by Valerie Hegarty Link – (Via Art Messe which is really good).

It reminded me for no apparent reason (other than they are both females artists making lots of holes) of Julie Krakowski, a Brussels based textile designer. Below are two pieces from her coffee and cigarettes series. In her words:

Work based on the prints of the everyday, the little accidents such as cigarette burns. Holes, amplified, become an organic pattern. It accentuates the importance of the random”

The rust pieces up on her site are quite nice as well. Link (via Trendbeheer & Flores en el atico)
