“The central theme of the magazine was countries and borders. Contrary to the usual fashion photography, that shows off the newest clothes on a human body and wants to sell an ideal, I made still lives depicting maps and landscapes.”

By turning around the books, I wanted to make an ‘anti-library’ (information, the core of the concept library, turns into desinformation). At the same time another kind of information emerges: that of the usage, age,… of the books itself.

Corriette Schoenaerts operates in a strange nether-region between conceptual art, editorial and advertising. There’s lots of interesting things to see on her site AND as an added plus she actually tells you what you are looking at and what her intentions were.  Would really like to see a bit more of that out there.
